A total of 8,878 units were affected by the 2nd recall for the Chery Omoda 5 in Malaysia. The figure was confirmed by the latest statement from Chery Malaysia, which serves as a follow-up to the initial announcement made on 11 October.

The full statement from Chery Malaysia. As per the initial announcement, all affected units are eligible for a complimentary inspection and parts replacement at any authorised Chery service centre nationwide. Chery Malaysia stated that the first shipment of replacement parts is already underway and that the company is actively working to expedite delivery.

Omoda 5 was originally launched in July 2023 but has since been replaced by a facelifted model called Chery O5 last September. Chery 05 is equipped with a multi-link rear suspension system as opposed to the torsion beam setup on the Omoda 5.
