GEORGE TOWN: Malaysian neurosurgeon and neuroscientist Professor Datuk Dr Jafri Malin Abdullah has received the 2026 NAM Distinguished Educator Award for his contributions to neurosurgical education and training.

Dr Jafri, who is Professor of Neurosciences and chairman of the Brain and Behaviour Cluster at Universiti Sains Malaysia Specialist Hospital (HPUSM), received the award from the Sultan of Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah.

The presentation took place during the opening ceremony of the 26th annual general meeting and 24th annual scientific meeting of the Neurosurgical Association of Malaysia (NAM) at The Zenith Hotel Kuantan.

The two-day meeting, themed "Beyond Boundaries 2026: Resilience, Evolution, Integration", brings together neurosurgical professionals and academics.
