PUTRAJAYA: There was no official restriction or ban on media coverage when former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad visited the grave of his late wife, Tun Dr Siti Hasmah Mohamad Ali, at Pusara Negara here yesterday, says Putrajaya Media Club (KMP).
KMP said media personnel covering the visit were aware of their journalistic ethics and the need to respect human values, privacy and the family's sensitivities while carrying out their professional duties in a sombre setting.
"KMP wishes to stress that media personnel did not receive any official notification of restrictions or a ban on recording from Dr Mahathir's office or family at the location.
"Media practitioners on duty understand their responsibility to respect human values, privacy and the family's sensitivities, especially when reporting in a sombre setting," it said in a statement today.
