KUALA LUMPUR: Bank Rakyat is strengthening discussions on the future of Islamic finance through the 2026 International Shariah Scholars Roundtable (iSHAR), in collaboration with the Association of Shariah Advisors in Islamic Finance.
Entering its sixth edition, iSHAR 2026 features a regional edition for the first time, focusing on shared Shariah, governance and operational issues among Southeast Asian countries.
Bank Rakyat chairman Datuk Mohd Irwan Mohd Mubarak said Shariah research and knowledge development must be grounded in operational realities and evolving economic needs.
"We need research grounded in operational realities, innovation that preserves the objectives of Shariah, and human capital capable of bridging an understanding of Islamic law with current economic needs," he said in a statement.
