KUCHING, Oct 22: Sarawak United National Youth Organisation (SABERKAS) president Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah has clarified that the youth movement does not formally put forward election candidates, but serves as a platform to nurture potential leaders.
He stressed that being a SABERKAS member does not automatically guarantee a candidacy under Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB).
“Past elections, if we look at them, the most number of candidates will always be from SABERKAS. So, I won’t be surprised this time round it will be from SABERKAS again,” he said at a press conference after the 61st SABERKAS Sarawak Supreme Committee Meeting at a hotel here today.
Abdul Karim, who is also PBB information chief, said SABERKAS had long served as a platform for identifying and nurturing young leaders, with many candidates in previous State elections coming from its ranks.
