OCTOBER 29 — The East Coast Rail Link (ECRL) is approaching a defining moment in Malaysia’s infrastructure development.
On December 12, 2026, the country is scheduled to witness the commencement of a new chapter in rail connectivity, linking the East Coast with the Klang Valley through a modern, electrified railway system.
For many Malaysians, the immediate question is understandably straightforward: How much will a ticket cost, how long will the journey take, and will travelling by train be more worthwhile than driving?
What kind of economic, social and logistical transformation can a railway of this scale deliver over the next 30, 50 or even 100 years?
