KUCHING, Nov 5: The Ministry of Education (MOE) has assured that the 12 weekly teaching periods for Bahasa Melayu, Chinese and Tamil will be maintained under the 2027 School Curriculum (KP2027), with no reduction in teaching time for the three languages.
In a statement today, MOE said the decision followed engagement sessions with stakeholders to discuss the allocation of language teaching periods under the new curriculum.
The ministry said it had considered the views and suggestions raised during the discussions before deciding to maintain the existing allocation.
The decision ensures that Bahasa Melayu in Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK), Chinese in Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan Cina (SJKC) and Tamil in Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan Tamil (SJKT) will each retain 12 teaching periods a week.
