PETALING JAYA: Men’s doubles scratch pair Aaron Tai-Yap Roy King beat one of Taiwan’s top pairs in straight games to storm into the quarter-finals of the Arctic Open.

The Malaysian duo, playing together for the first time, took 38 minutes to beat the world No 21 Taiwanese brothers Lee Fang Chih-Lee Fang Jen 21-19, 21-11 at the Energia Areena in Vantaa, Finland.

It’s a victory to savour for Aaron-Roy King as the Arctic Open is a World Tour Super 500 championship that offers lucrative prizes.

The Malaysian duo will meet either Thailand’s Peeratchai Sukphun-Pakkapon Teeraratsakul or Scottish pair Christopher Grimley-Matthew Grimley in the last-eight match tomorrow.
