KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 9 — Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) is allocating RM400 million to create 120 acres of new green spaces and upgrade public facilities as part of efforts to make the capital more liveable.

DBKL said the plan includes 22km of covered pedestrian walkways linking landmarks such as the National Mosque, Dataran Merdeka and Central Market, as well as connecting public housing to schools, clinics and transport hubs.

A 100 acre leasehold site in Bukit Kiara is being gazetted as a federal park, while buggy services are to be introduced for visitors, particularly elderly travellers, heading to destinations such as the National Monument, Botanical Gardens and Carcosa Seri Negara.

The government also commended Khazanah Nasional’s Warisan KL initiative, which has drawn 500,000 visitors following the restoration of the Sultan Abdul Samad Building. The next phase of conservation will focus on Dayabumi Tower, Kuala Lumpur Railway Station and the KTMB headquarters.
