The government has agreed to increase the FlySiswa subsidy allocation from RM400 to RM500, as announced by Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim during the tabling of Budget 2027 today.
First introduced in 2023, the initiative provides flight ticket aid to students at public higher learning institutions (IPTA) travelling inter-state between Peninsular Malaysia, Sabah, Sarawak, and Labuan.
Specifically, Flysiswa is applicable for East Malaysian students studying in Peninsular Malaysia and vice versa. Over 60,000 public university students stand to benefit from the increased subsidy, easing the financial burden when flying home during semester breaks and returning to campus.
Over the years, FlySiswa assistance has been distributed as digital voucher credits through participating local carriers, including Malaysia Airlines, AirAsia, Batik Air, and Firefly.
