KUCHING, Oct 12: The Sarawak government’s 25 per cent electricity bill discount will continue from January to December 2027 with financial implication amounting to RM281 million.
According to Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, this initiative is expected to benefit around 760,000 domestic consumers across Sarawak.
“Other places are increasing their tariff, but we give them (Sarawakians) discount,” he said when tabling the Supply Bill (2027), 2026, or Sarawak Budget 2027, at the Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUS) today.
In addition, he also said that RM35 million has been set aside to subsidise water bills for eligible households, benefiting around 600,000 domestic consumers.
