The Sarawak government unveiled a budget of RM14.84 billion for 2027. (Bernama pic)KUCHING: The Sarawak government today announced a 25% discount on electricity bills from January to December next year under the state budget for 2027.
Sarawak premier Abang Johari Openg, when tabling the budget at the state legislative assembly, said the discount would benefit about 716,000 domestic consumers across Sarawak, at a cost of RM281 million.
The state government also announced a RM5 monthly subsidy for water bills under the free water programme, to benefit about 600,000 domestic consumers at a cost of RM35 million.
"These initiatives reflect a government that governs with compassion, foresight and responsibility, balancing fiscal discipline with social equity.
