KUALA LUMPUR: Bursa Malaysia extended its gains for a second consecutive session, with banking stocks leading advances among the FBM KLCI constituents.
The benchmark index rose 0.33 per cent to close at 1,623 points, suggesting bargain hunting had emerged following last week's sell-off.
The ringgit, meanwhile, weakened slightly against the US dollar to 4.0840.
In the cryptocurrency market, Bitcoin edged higher to RM341,036, while Ethereum rose to RM10,251.
