NAGOYA: Track rider Azizulhasni Awang dubbed his keirin victory at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games on Friday as the perfect way to end his Asian Games career.

The Pocket Rocketman cemented his legendary status in the sport after pipping China's second placed Li Zhiwei to the finish line in the final at the Izu Velodrome in Shizuoka.

Zhiwei's teammate Xie Han came in third while Shah Firdaus Sahrom was fifth in the final.

Azizulhasni, now 38, said it was a brutal race that left him exhausted.

The win comes 16 years after he won his first Asiad gold at the 2010 Guangzhou Games, which was also in the keirin. It was also his third career Asian Games gold medal after also winning the individual sprint at Indonesia 2018.
