KUANTAN: Two men were arrested after 56 compressed bricks of ganja weighing 58.1kg and worth RM174,000 were seized in Maran on Monday.

Pahang acting police chief Datuk Azry Akmar Ayob said the suspects, aged 44 and 30, were detained around 1.20am while allegedly transferring four bags from the boot of a car in front of a homestay.

He said checks on the bags found 56 transparent plastic wrappers and aluminium foil containing dried compressed lumps suspected to be ganja.

"The current market value of the seized ganja is estimated at RM174,000 based on the price of RM3,000 per kilogramme," he told a press conference at the Pahang police headquarters here.

Azry Akmar said investigations found that the syndicate's modus operandi was to deliver drug supplies to areas where there was demand.
