KUALA LUMPUR: Lee Chean Chung's resignation is another blow to PKR, with the party now struggling to retain even its own lawmakers.

International Islamic University Malaysia political scientist Dr Syaza Shukri said with Lee being the fourth PKR member of parliament to leave, the party had lost more than 10 per cent of the 31 it started out with following the 15th General Election.

This, she said, showed that PKR was in "emergency mode".

"This is really bad for PKR. It is almost a bloodbath, considering that is four out of 31, more than 10 per cent.

"On one hand it's not a surprise or coming out of nowhere but it shows that PKR is really in emergency mode.
