KUALA LUMPUR: Police have reclassified the death of Noorizwan Zulkefly while in custody at the Cheras district police for voluntarily causing grievous hurt to extort a confession.
Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department (CID) director Datuk M. Kumar said the case was reclassified after a forensic expert confirmed that injuries found on Noorizwan's body were consistent with blunt force trauma and were not self-inflicted.
He said Bukit Aman's Prosecution and Legal Division (D5) had taken over investigations into the Oct 1 custodial death.
"The classification was made following a statement recorded from the forensic medicine consultant at Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz (HCTM), who conducted the post-mortem examination.
