GEORGE TOWN, Nov 1 — A vibrant splash of colours, festive decorations and lively entertainment has brought the spirit of Deepavali to life at the Penang Jom Jom Deepavali Carnival 2026 in Bayan Lepas, with the celebration also opening new doors for small businesses and aspiring entrepreneurs.
Beyond the festive atmosphere, the 10-day carnival, which runs until November 7, is providing a valuable platform for small and medium enterprises (SMEs), home-based businesses and budding entrepreneurs to showcase their products, connect with consumers and expand their market reach.
Penang Indian Business Organisation president Dr Kugilan Pushpanathan said the carnival featured about 45 stalls offering a variety of products, with nearly 95 per cent of the participating vendors making their debut at a Deepavali carnival, many of whom had previously operated from home or relied on online platforms to sell their products.
