KUALA LUMPUR: Perikatan Nasional (PN) has warned that it could be shut out of the coming Melaka state election if the suspension imposed by the Registrar of Societies (RoS) is not lifted before nomination day.
The coalition said in court papers that the suspension prevents it from carrying out normal political activities, including authorising candidates to contest under the PN banner and using its registered name and symbol.
PN said any court decision in its favour after nomination day could come too late as the opportunity to field candidates under the coalition's banner could no longer be restored.
The matter was raised in a certificate of urgency filed together with PN's judicial review application challenging two notices issued by RoS.
