KOTA BARU: Police are identifying a man believed to be linked to the vandalism of Al-Aziz Al-Hadi Mosque in Kota SPP Warisan, Tumpat, yesterday.
Tumpat police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Khairi Shafie said CCTV footage from the mosque showed a man believed to be connected to the incident, which occurred at 6.35am.
He said police received a report from a member of the public, while initial checks found that the mosque's glass door had been smashed and a foul-smelling, greenish-brown liquid poured onto the carpet in the prayer hall.
"The case is being investigated under Sections 295 and 427 of the Penal Code," he said in a statement last night.
Khairi said police were also investigating the motive and assessing the extent of the damage and losses incurred.
