Tony Lim built his food brands with a mix of curiosity, instinct and a willingness to see familiar ideas in a fresh way. (BananaBro pic)PETALING JAYA: Malaysian food entrepreneur Tony Lim, who founded two of the country’s most recognisable casual dining chains, has died at age 47.
His death was announced on Monday, prompting tributes to an entrepreneur who had a knack for spotting an established food tradition and finding a fresh way to present it.
Here are four things worth knowing about the ideas that shaped the businesses he left behind.
Lim launched Boat Noodle in Malaysia in 2014 after being inspired by the small bowls of noodles he had eaten in Thailand. The father of two told Vulcan Post that boat noodles was one of the foods he most enjoyed in Bangkok, where his wife is from.
