KUANTAN: Floods are expected to hit Kuantan, Pekan and Rompin, particularly low-lying areas and flood-prone locations, from today until Wednesday.
The National Flood Forecasting and Warning Centre of the Department of Irrigation and Drainage said the forecast followed an alert-level continuous rain warning issued by the Malaysian Meteorological Department at 4.30pm today.
In Kuantan, the areas at risk include locations within the Sungai Kuantan Basin, covering Sungai Kuantan, Sungai Lembing, Sungai Kenau, Sungai Beserah, Sungai Belat and Sungai Soi.
Also at risk are areas within the Sungai Cherating Basin (Sungai Cherating), Sungai Pahang Basin (Sungai Lepar) and Sungai Penor Basin (Sungai Penor).
