KUALA LUMPUR: A 27-year-old SUV driver was detained today after he allegedly refused to stop following a police convoy escorting Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
City Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Zamzuri Mohd Isa said the incident occurred at 9.20am on the Shah Alam Expressway (KESAS) towards Klang.
"The Honda CR-V, driven by a 27-year-old local man, was following the police convoy escorting the deputy prime minister from Kajang to Sunway Medical Centre in Subang Jaya.
"A police escort in the convoy warned the SUV driver not to follow the convoy.
"However, the man refused to comply and continued following the convoy. His actions were feared to have endangered the safety of the convoy and other road users," he said in a statement.
