KUALA LUMPUR: Mercy Malaysia is rolling out its Haze Emergency Response nationwide to supply medical aid and health guidance to vulnerable groups as air quality worsens across several states.

In a statement today, the humanitarian organisation said the initiative builds on its ongoing efforts in Sarawak, where it has supported public health advocacy, community awareness and assistance for those affected by haze.

"Haze is currently affecting several parts of Peninsular Malaysia, including Johor, Negri Sembilan, Melaka, Selangor and Kuala Lumpur. Severity varies from place to place, but the risk to vulnerable groups remains.

"Children, older persons, pregnant women and people with respiratory or heart conditions face the greatest health risks," it said.
