YOKOHAMA, (Japan): Double major winner Xander Schauffele moved four shots off the lead in Japan after carding two eagles and a double bogey on "a weird day" at the US PGA Tour's Baycurrent Classic on Saturday.

Defending champion Schauffele heads into Sunday's final day with a shot at retaining his title after carding a 6-under-par 65 to finish the third round 9-under overall.

The American had a roller-coaster front nine in sunny conditions in Yokohama, starting with a bogey before holing two birdies and an eagle on the par-5 fourth.

Schauffele followed that up with a double bogey on the next hole before sinking another eagle on the par-5 sixth, and went on to card four more birdies and another bogey to finish the round.
