KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 15 — Private hospital operator IHH Healthcare Malaysia has objected to the exclusion of some of its consultant doctors from insurer AIA Malaysia’s panel on purported “commercial” grounds.

In a letter to AIA Bhd chief corporate solutions and health care officer Tung Hsiao Ley last Friday, IHH Healthcare Malaysia chief executive officer Dr Kamal Amzan raised concerns after AIA allegedly presented to doctors at Pantai Hospital Laguna Merbok (PHLM) in Sungai Petani, Kedah, that the exclusion of certain consultants from AIA’s panel was the outcome of negotiations with the private hospital group – which he denied.

“Our position has been consistent from the outset. We have repeatedly registered our disagreement and sought clinical, ethical, or professional justification for these exclusions. None has been provided to us,” wrote Dr Kamal in his October 9 letter to Tung, as sighted by CodeBlue.
