KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 16 — Mixed reviews haven’t stopped Other Mommy from scaring its way to the top of the Malaysian box office, knocking Indonesian horror remake Munafik: Melawan Iblis off the No. 1 spot.

Starring Oscar winner Jessica Chastain and adapted from Josh Malerman’s 2024 novel Incidents Around the House, the supernatural horror film follows an eight-year-old girl terrorised by a sinister, shape-shifting entity that assumes her mother’s appearance.

Over on Netflix, Malaysian series Kudrat 1968: High Council is wrapping up its four-episode season on a high, holding firm at No. 1 following the release of its fourth and final episode yesterday. Fans won’t have long to wait for more, with the story set to continue on the big screen on October 29.
