KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim congratulated Malaysian athletes after the national contingent secured three more gold medals at the 2026 Asian Games in Japan today.

Anwar said the achievement was a source of pride and highlighted the athletes' exceptional ability and determination.

He said the feat brought Malaysia's gold medal tally to nine as the national contingent continued its campaign to fly the Jalur Gemilang high on the Asian stage.

"Congratulations and well done to all the gold medal winners today," he said in a Facebook post.

The three gold medals were won by track cycling ace Datuk Mohd Azizulhasni Awang in the men's keirin at the Izu Velodrome, while Malaysia also claimed gold in both the women's and men's squash team events at the Nagoya Kinjo Futo Arena.
