Jakim said the company involved is not a Malaysian halal certificate holder.PETALING JAYA: The Islamic development department (Jakim) has launched an investigation following videos on social media platform Threads of chickens allegedly being processed in unhygienic and potentially non-halal conditions.
"A thorough investigation is being conducted with local authorities regarding the company, which is not a Malaysian halal certificate holder, related to the issue which has gone viral," it said in a statement on its social media accounts.
Putrajaya MP Radzi Jidin was among those who raised concerns about the videos, calling for an investigation into issues including the method of slaughter and halal status of the chickens.
