PUTRAJAYA, Oct 22 — The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) urges individuals who have uploaded or shared video footage of an incident involving a dangerous weapon at a school in Kuching, Sarawak, to immediately delete the content.

In a statement today, MCMC emphasised that the dissemination of footage depicting acts of violence particularly involving children not only compromises the privacy and dignity of those involved but also negatively impacts the emotional well-being of the individuals and their families.

The Commission further cautioned that disclosing the identities of children may constitute a violation of Section 15 of the Child Act 2001 (Act 611).

“The dissemination of such content may also be subject to action under Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 (Act 588), should it contravene the provisions of the law,” the statement read.
