SONGKHLA: The Consulate-General of Malaysia in Songkhla and Thai authorities have agreed to establish a mechanism to improve the distribution of flood aid.

Malaysia's Consul-General in Songkhla Ahmad Fahmi Ahmad Sarkawi said this was part of preparations to deal with the possibility of major floods such as those that hit Hat Yai last November.

He said warehouses that could be used to store supplies from Malaysia had been identified.

"When supplies from Malaysia arrive, we will immediately send them to the warehouses.

"We have also agreed that Thai authorities will distribute the supplies to those in need," Fahmi said during a visit by a Perlis Journalists Association delegation to his office here recently.
