KUALA LUMPUR: A total of RM14.3 million has been recovered and returned to online scam victims between Oct 12, 2022 and September this year.
Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said the National Scam Response Centre (NSRC) acted on victims' complaints to stop funds from being moved through multiple bank accounts before they could be withdrawn or transferred elsewhere.
However, he said the amount recovered remained insufficient given the substantial losses suffered by scam victims.
"Are we satisfied with this? The answer is no, because losses resulting from online scams remain substantial," he said during the winding-up session for the 2027 Supply Bill for the Home Ministry.
