SUBANG JAYA: MCA has not been accorded due respect as a Barisan Nasional component party amid a dispute over the announcement of candidates for the Melaka election, says PKR strategy director Sim Tze Tzin.
The Deputy Investment, Trade and Industry Minister said making unilateral decisions without consulting all component parties went against the spirit of consensus within a political coalition.
He said such practices did not reflect healthy democracy, as every component party should be given room to discuss and reach mutual agreement before decisions were made.
"I see that recently BN took unilateral action against MCA, where coalition partners were not brought to discussions and decisions were made unilaterally.
