KUALA LUMPUR: Australia-born defender Shane Lowry's hopes of representing Malaysia now rest with FIFA after the FA of Malaysia (FAM) submitted the Johor Darul Ta'zim star's naturalisation documents to the world governing body.

FAM secretary-general Datuk Noor Azman Haji Rahman confirmed that the documentation was complete and the association was awaiting FIFA's decision.

"Shane Lowry's documents are complete and we have submitted them to FIFA. We are now waiting for FIFA's approval process in the near future," he said at the strategic partnership signing ceremony between FAM, Yes and Ryt Bank yesterday.

The 37-year-old joined JDT in 2021 and has completed five years of continuous residence in Malaysia.
