KUALA LUMPUR: Aaron Tai-Yap Roy King are making an increasingly compelling case to remain together permanently after pulling off another major upset at the Hylo Open in Saarbrücken, Germany, on Thursday.
The rising men's doubles pair stunned Indonesia's top seeds Sabar Karyaman Gutama-Moh Reza Pahlevi Isfahani 22-20, 21-19 in 39 minutes to reach the quarter-finals of the Super 500 tournament.
Playing in their only fourth tournament together, Aaron-Roy King showed remarkable composure to overcome their world No. 7 opponents, further proving that their sensational Arctic Open triumph earlier this month was no flash in the pan.
The Malaysians displayed nerves of steel in the opening game, coming back from 19-16 before saving two game points to snatch early advantage 22-20.
