Sir Patrick Stewart, the acclaimed British actor best known for playing Captain Jean-Luc Picard in Star Trek: The Next Generation and Professor Charles Xavier in the X-Men films, has died at the age of 86.
Stewart died at his home in Los Angeles on Wednesday, 28 October, with his wife, singer-songwriter Sunny Ozell, by his side, according to a statement shared through his social media accounts.
His death followed what his representatives described as a brief battle with Alzheimer’s disease and Lewy body dementia.
