KUALA LUMPUR: Perikatan Nasional has explained its decision to exclude Bersatu from a top coalition meeting, a move that prompted Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin's party to lodge a complaint with the Registrar of Societies (RoS).
PN secretary-general Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan said Bersatu was left out of the July 16 meeting because of "unresolved questions" over the quorum of its Supreme Council.
He said inviting Bersatu while the quorum issue remained unresolved could have compromised the validity of decisions made by the coalition.
Takiyuddin said PN called an urgent meeting for July 16 and issued notices to component parties on July 14.
However, four Bersatu MPs — representing Sabak Bernam, Kangar, Kulim-Bandar Baharu and Sungai Besar — had lodged a complaint with the RoS on July 13 over the Supreme Council quorum.
