KUALA LUMPUR: The Defence Ministry hopes the 2027 Budget, to be tabled on Friday, will provide sufficient funding to strengthen the readiness of the armed forces.
He said the allocation should take into account the country's needs, particularly to ensure that the armed forces had sufficient capabilities to defend the country and safeguard its sovereignty.
"I believe the Prime Minister will give due consideration based on the country's needs and our need to defend the country and safeguard its sovereignty.
"We also need to take into account the challenges we face and the current geopolitical situation," he said at the Siber Siaga 2026 press conference.
On Aug 7, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said the government would continue efforts to increase defence allocations through the 2027 Budget to strengthen the armed forces' readiness and ensure the welfare of security personnel.
