LETTER: Reports of violence involving teenagers in Malaysian schools and boarding schools is alarming. Until August 2026, 5681 school bullying cases have been reported.

In a recent case, a 16 year old boy has been remanded over a girl murdered in school in the state of Yong Peng.

Back in Oct 14, 2025, the promising life of a beautiful young 16 year old girl come to an abrupt end, when her schoolmate stabbed her to death.

These incidents demand that we look beyond the violence and ask why this is happening.

It is tempting to look for a single explanation either too much social media, poor parenting, a lack of discipline.
