SkyDance officially announced that it will merge its two streaming apps, HBO Max and Paramount+, into a single streaming service. More importantly, the decision officially closes the chapter in Paramount SkyDance’s acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery.
As a quick recap, Paramount SkyDance officially purchased Warner Bros. for an agreed upon amount of US$110 billion (~RM449 billion), after an almost year-long bidding war with Netflix. Netflix originally intended to absorb Warner Bros. Discovery, which would’ve given the streaming service access to the entire library and archive of the studio, which includes the Wizarding World franchise (Harry Potter, Fantastic Beasts, etc.), the DC Universe, and CNN, among others.
