After seven long years, the wait is finally over for a new entry in Bandai Namco’s Ace Combat series. Right off the bat, Ace Combat 8: Wings Of Theve ticks all the boxes you’d expect from a game in the long-running arcade flight-shooter series by Project Aces.
There is intense war drama, massive war machines, catastrophic superweapons, supervillains, excessive missile payloads that defy the visually limited hardpoints on your aircraft, engaging missions and gameplay, and, most importantly, an excellent soundtrack.
I should note that I purchased my copy of the game on Steam. With 18 hours clocked in and the campaign completed, this review will focus primarily on the gameplay and story, with less emphasis on the multiplayer elements simply because I haven’t spent much time with them just yet.
