PETALING JAYA: As of 4pm today, 11 areas in Peninsular Malaysia recorded air pollutant index (API) readings above 180, the threshold for school closures under an education ministry order.

According to the Air Pollutant Index Management System (Apims), Pasir Gudang in Johor recorded the highest reading at 190, followed by Seremban in Negeri Sembilan at 189.

Other areas in Johor and Negeri Sembilan were also badly affected - Segamat (186) and Larkin, Tangkak and Nilai (183).

API readings were 187 in Bukit Rambai, 183 in Tasek Ipoh and Melaka city, 182 in Johan Setia, and 181 in Alor Gajah.
