AYER KEROH: A 2.74m-long green anaconda named Diana has given birth to 10 offspring at the Melaka Butterfly and Reptile Sanctuary after going nearly seven months without food.

The sanctuary's managing director, Gerard Wong, said Diana gave birth on Monday after a gestation period of about 190 days.

He said the birth marked a milestone in wildlife conservation, as the offspring represent the second generation of green anacondas bred at the sanctuary.

The births bring the sanctuary's green anaconda population to more than 40, making it home to Malaysia's largest population of the species.
