PETALING JAYA: A police officer was sentenced to eight years' jail by the Temerloh sessions court in Pahang today for cheating two men of RM111,485 over a three-year period.
Darren anak Ayian was also fined RM44,000 and ordered to be given six strokes of the rotan by judge Jamaludin Mat after he pleaded guilty to 44 charges under Section 420 of the Penal Code.
He was accused of cheating Chong Kin Yew and Yap Kah Poh between December 2022 and March 2025 by claiming that he could help resolve their foreign spouses’ permits with the immigration department.
