KUALA LUMPUR: "Do not squander your savings just to splurge for a day and end up saddled with debt for decades," says Muar member of parliament Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman when asked about the budget for his upcoming wedding to artiste Bella Astillah.
Syed Saddiq, 33, said he was taking a serious approach to managing his finances, citing financial issues as a common cause of divorce.
"I discussed this with my future wife; we want to do our best because we want to send a positive message. I am someone who speaks based on data, so I view this matter seriously," he said at a press conference here this afternoon to announce their wedding.
The couple will hold two large-scale receptions in their home states — Johor and Sabah — with the public invited.
