KUALA LUMPUR: National track cyclist Shah Firdaus Sahrom issued a heartfelt tribute to long-time coach John Beasley, following the conclusion of the Shanghai World Championships, the latter's last major assignment with the national squad.
Shah trained directly under Beasley - then as head coach - for over a decade before the latter went on to become the national cycling programme technical director last year.
The Australian has played a key role in shaping Shah's career, guiding him to multiple medals across the Asian Games, Commonwealth Games and the UCI Nations Cup series, among others, over the years.
Shah expressed his gratitude to the Australian, who has been dubbed the 'father of Malaysian track cycling' for his contributions to the sport here.
