KUCHING, Oct 21: Sarawak’s agricultural sector is embracing modern technology with its first freeze-drying machine, turning local fruits into innovative, value-added products while preserving their natural qualities.

Premier of Sarawak Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg officiated the freeze-dried dabai yoghurt product during the ‘Kempen Lebihkan Buah-Buahan Tempatan’ (Eat More Local Fruits Campaign) at the foyer of the Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUS) complex today.

Sarawak’s first freeze-drying machine operated by PPK Meradong. The machine, operated by the Meradong Area Farmers’ Organisation (PPK Meradong), can process various types of fruits, including dabai, bananas, pineapples and durian, in about 24 hours, opening new opportunities to preserve local produce and enhance its commercial value.
