MELAKA: Losing five times in elections has not deterred his father from serving the community, and now Mohammad Mukhlisul Mubin Julasapiyah hopes to carry that fight forward by wresting the Kuala Linggi state seat from Barisan Nasional (BN).

The 25-year-old Pakatan Harapan (PH) candidate from Amanah acknowledged the challenge of contesting a seat that has long been an Umno stronghold but said political struggles required patience and sustained effort.

His father, Julasapiyah Kassim, first contested the Kuala Linggi seat in 1999. Although he has yet to win an election, his service and contributions to the local community remain remembered.

However, the Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia law graduate said he did not regard his father's contributions as a ticket to securing votes, stressing that he had to earn and prove himself worthy of the electorate's trust.
