KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysian golfer Liyana Durisic is drawing inspiration from compatriot Mirabel Ting as she prepares for the Maybank Championship, with a crucial LPGA qualifying tournament test awaiting her in the United States next month.
Liyana, who will make her third consecutive appearance at Kuala Lumpur Golf and Country Club (KLGCC), said a conversation with Mirabel at Tuesday's welcome dinner had strengthened her belief ahead of the tournament, which begins Thursday.
"I was hanging out with Mirabel. She's my GOAT, my Greatest Of All Time, she's my idol," said the 23-year-old during the Asean qualifiers' press conference.
"She was the only one who won twice on the Epson Tour, she bombs it down the fairway, and she has absolutely no fear when it comes to playing golf."
