KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia's seven-strong contingent will be aiming to rewrite the country's Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship record when the 17th edition tees off at Te Arai Links' South Course on Thursday.
No Malaysian has finished better than seventh since the event began in 2009. Iszaimi Ismail (2009) and Ervin Chang (2018) finished seventh, while Marcus Lim tied for seventh in 2023.
Anson Yeo, 20, leads the challenge on his fifth successive appearance, having made the cut every year and recorded a career-best joint 21st in Dubai last year.
"I hope to finish under-par in every round, and aim for a top 10," said the Sarawakian, who expects the exposed links layout to test his shot-making.
